I love Auckland. It’s my favourite city in the world. It oozes cool and the 2 years I lived there I saw house prices soar (they still are), the waterfront regenerated from shipping dock wasteland to chic restaurant cool and generally watched the city emerge into the world as one of the best places to live on the planet.
During my time there I became obsessed with the ‘classic’ New Zealand Villa. Devonport where we lived was full of them. I wasn’t the only one and prices reflected that. The Villa’s that had been renovated or kept up-to-date were jaw droppingly beautiful. At the other end of the spectrum, some Villas were so run down (they would be condemned in the UK) but due to high demand they were selling for whopping prices around the million dollar mark! The market was madness, hence why we left the city (much to my sadness) and bought a Villa out of the Auckland Area (you can have a look here).
I currently follow a lot of New Zealand interior magazines, blogs and concept shops. Much of my own style has been influenced by living 10 years in the Land of the Long White Cloud. So when I came across this house tour I had to share. I was just so ‘kiwi’, it make me reminisce my beloved second country!
