The Inspiration Behind Our Design

Sunshine tie dyed towel; It was our aim when designing our Spring Summer textiles for 2021 to make them as fun, bright, and versatile as possible.  Let’s face it there has not been so much fun had in the past few months and we’ve all been indoors too much.  So these towels are for use on travels and adventures in 2021 and beyond!

Tie-dye is nostalgic for many and when we ask our clients their option of tie-dye, it was agreed that it can be used by any age.  Young or not-so-young 🙂 our Sunshine tie dyed towel, is just that.  They will bring an upbeat vibe to your day when used.

Multiple Uses for our Tie Dye Towel

Our Towels have multiple uses.  Use as a towel, a sarong, scarf or beach blanket, picnic rug or summery table cloth.

A Little History on Tie Dye

The earliest written records about tiedye come from China and Japan. The process was used during the T’ang Dynasty in China and the Nara Period in Japan as far back as the 6th century. People used natural dyes from berries, leaves, roots, and flowers to color clothing.

The term tie-dye, which describes a process of folding, twisting, or crumpling a textile before tying it with string or rubber bands and then applying dyes, entered the mainstream lexicon in America in the 1960s. That decade was characterized by, among other things, racial injustice and violence, political scandals, and divisions over an unending war—things that sound all too painfully familiar in 2020.

Like tie-dye, which has seen a recent resurgence on the runways and at fashion and lifestyle retailers, many dye techniques were developed for textiles that were intended to be worn—but nearly all have made their way into homes, covering pillows, beds, chairs, windows, and even tables.
