What is Natural Shampoo?
Natural shampoo is the way to go! Instead of chemicals, natural shampoos use plant extracts, essential oils and other natural ingredients.
This cleans hair and improves everything from shine to body. It is not only gentler on your hair, but it is also beneficial to your body and your health. Because you’re not absorbing the chemicals found in regular shampoos.
While you may think natural shampoo only affects your hair, its ingredients can be absorbed through the pores. Meaning you’re also putting these ingredients into your body. Some of these chemicals can cause skin irritation or contribute to a number of health problems.
Plus, regular shampoo can actually harm your scalp and hair. It does this by reducing the size of hair follicles damaging the oil glands and causing your scalp to become dry. All of these things can potentially lead to hair loss over time.
The Benefits of Using a Natural Shampoo and Conditioner
1/ Makes Hair more Shiny
Natural shampoo uses plant based ingredients that work to clean the hair rather than strip it of it’s natural oils. Just like fuelling your body with natural foods our hair thrives off chemical free ingredients allowing for the hair to radiate it’s natural shine.
2/ Helps to Stimulate Hair Growth
Natural ingredients in hair products can gently yet effectively help to impart vitamins, minerals, oils, and botanical extracts to the scalp and the hair follicles. This in turn gently stimulates the growth of new hair, helps hair retain its natural moisture, and enhance the overall texture and appearance of the hair.
3/ Helps keep Volume and Bounce
Buy using a shampoo that is chemical free and doesn’t strip the hair of it’s natural oils, it will keep the hairs natural volume and will feel bouncy in turn.
3/ Keeps Chemicals away from the Scalp and Brain
Conventional shampoos contain harsh chemicals such as parabens and sulphates. Almost every shampoo on the market contains a list of harsh chemicals that can cause some serious side effects. Not only will they cause major damage to your hair but they can irritate your eyes and skin and cause health problems when inhaled.
4/ Stops Flaking Scalp
People who have switched to natural shampoos with conditions like dandruff have found that natural shampoo stops irritating the skin and in turn causing it to flake.
5/ Natural Shampoos and conditioners have a balanced pH
Both highly acidic and highly alkaline products can be extremely damaging to the hair cuticle. For this reason, it is important to use a pH-balanced shampoo that is neither too alkaline nor too acidic. Laura Thomas Co’s natural shampoo base is formulated with a pH range of 4.5-5.5.
Additional Benefits of using Laura Thomas Co Shampoo and Conditioner
1/ Benefits the environment
The hair benefits of using natural shampoos and conditioners also extend to the health of the environment. As eco-friendly ingredients replace the harsh synthetic chemicals, which pollute sewer systems and rivers and ultimately harm or destroy the ecosystem. Natural, biodegradable shampoos and conditioners simply disintegrate into non-toxic constituents. These do not pollute or cause damage to ecosystems.
2/ Prevents the loss of dyed hair colour.
3/ Amazing for people who have sensitive skin.
The natural oils and base make them very suitable for people who have sensitive skin.
What Will You Expect to Find When Making the Switch to Natural Shampoo?
You Might go Through a Transition Period
If you have been using conventional shampoo for years then your hair will be used to it stripping the hair and scalp of it’s natural oils.
So when you switch to natural hair care for a period of 0 – 21 days your hair could feel more oily and heavier. This is due to the hair adjusting to not having to over produce oil to compensate for it being regularly stripped of its natural oils.
What are the noticeable differences when switching to Natural Shampoo Hair Care
There is one noticeable difference you can see when beginning to use our pink grapefruit natural shampoo.
Is that it will not produce as much lather and foam as a conventional shampoo.
This is due to the absence of synthetic chemical foaming agents. It is recommended that you wash your hair twice when using a natural shampoo. As the second wash will produce slightly more lather. This is because there is less buildup – dirt, oil, dry skin – to eliminate in the second wash. Also, when the strands hold more water in the second wash. It increases the shampoo’s ability to produce more lather. For best results, pair with our pink grapefruit conditioner.
