Our impact here at Laura Thomas Co.
Refilling and reusing play big parts in the brand of LT Co. Over half our products you can buy refills for, this stops the waste of a glass bottle. We also like to reuse the bottles and materials we get. At LT Co we feel very passionate about the environmental issues the world is facing. That’s why all our packaging has been 100% recycled and 100% recyclable since 2014. All LT products are natural and sustainable free from synthetic fibres and fragrances. Our textiles are made from cotton and our soaps and scents are created with essential oils. All our scent diffusers and soaps are refillable. The idea is that our products can be used and refilled for less cost and less waste. All our refill pouches are recyclable. We take recycling a step further by having our clients refill their original glass bottle, reducing waste on local recycling plants.

Recent changes at Laura Thomas Co
In 2020 we invested in changing 80% of our packaging to paper made from recycled coffee cups. This special paper is made in a Mill in England. We feel so strongly about the impact and the effects of packaging on our environment that even the print on our packaging is printed with an eco-solvent that is not harmful to our soil and waterways. All our packaging is made from paper made in mills in the UK and all the print on our boxes is printed in the UK too. We PRIDE ourselves on using 80% UK suppliers for our products as well as flying the flag for Made in Scotland candles, scents, and soaps.

Why should you refill?
The short answer is, to protect Planet Earth. You want your grandchildren to see the world like we see it now. We have to change the way we get rid of things and change what we buy. Even if it’s switching from a plastic water bottle to an aluminium bottle. This not only benefits the world but your health too as the plastic gets into your system. Every year more than 8 million tons of plastic bottles end up in the sea. It is estimated that by the year 2050 there will be more plastic than fishes in the sea. If that doesn’t scare you then these facts will make you want to start refilling:
- More than 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine animals die from plastic pollution every year.
- There is now 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean & 46,000 pieces in every square mile of ocean, weighing up to 269,000 tonnes.
- Everyday around 8 million pieces of plastic make their way into the ocean.
- The North pacific Garbage Patch is the same size as France.
- On UK beaches there are 5000 pieces of plastic & 150 plastic bottles for each mile.
- More than 1 million plastic bags end up in the bin every minute.
- 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption contains plastic.
I hope you can see why refilling is more important than ever. Purchase the Laura Thomas Co. Refill for your product and do your part!
