Christmas Gift Guide v2: Independent UK Brands

Gift Guide

Get stuck into Laura Thomas Co’s Christmas Gift Guide v2 for our online picks.  It really is an opportunity to create a favourites list of local and nationwide brands that you can build a relationship with and help to support local communities.  Everything listed here is just a few clicks away from being delivered to someone’s door (or inbox).  More than ever this year let’s support independant brands that have worked so hard to produce or source really good quality products.

Hillary Grant  Orkney Island, Scotland.  Textile design studio based on the Northern Island of Orkney.  Specialising in knitted patterns and goods made out of lambswool.  Laura owns a HG scarf and can vouch how beautiful these hand made products are.

We are Amused  Burnisland, Scotland. Creating high-quality art prints using found objects, typography, photography, and collage.  A real find for art lovers or to find some edgy, cool artworks for your home or someone else’s.  Have a look!

Yawn London.  Tried and tested pj’s and nightshirts that the LT team just love.  Perfect for spending time at home and feeling cosy and relaxed.  Highly recommend.

Gussy and Lou London. Tonnes of personality with fun-infused, super cool vivid palettes, colour-tipped cashmere, and neon trims quickly becoming Gussy and Lou’s signature style for ladies and kids.

St Berts Cornwall.  Perfect sweats, t-shirts and accessories that you just want to put on.  Good quality.  All ages and sizes.  We love the brightly coloured retro-styled sweatshirts for days at home chilling.

Tens Sunglasses Glasgow.  It may seem weird to be buying sunglasses in Winter but we still do wear glasses in winter even in Scotland!  Uber cool Scottish Sunglasses brand tens, know how to style your eyes.  We have our eyes on their ‘Carter’ glasses.

Ruth Leslie Edinburgh.  Seriously cool jewelry.  Shop Ruth’s beautiful, sculptural and playful jewelry made in various metals.

Batoko  North West coast of England, Fun & bright recycled plastic swimwear.  Seriously great for sea swimming for forthcoming travels in 2021 😉

Food and Drink to Enjoy

The Cheese Geek London.  Laura received a Cheese Geeks subscription this year as a 40th birthday present and claims it was simply the ‘best cheesy pressie ever’.  Highly recommend – it comes in eco-friendly packaging with detailed descriptions of all the cheeses.

Great Glen Charcuterie  Highlands of Scotland. Great Glen specialise in producing charcuterie using only wild Scottish venison.  Simply delicious and a great gift for foodies.

Inverawe Smoked Salmon  West Coast Scotland.  Without a doubt the best smoked salmon in the UK.  Inverawe Smokehouse began with just one smokebox. Today they are proud to be one of the biggest mail order companies and one of the most renowned smokehouses in Scotland and holders of the Royal Warrant.  Great hampers or just gift some smoked salmon – it’s seriously good.

The Oyster Shed Skye  Isle of Skye. Gift someone a dozen fresly caught oysters from the Isle of Skye.  These guys ship UK wide and the oyster are seriously fresh and delicious.

Ballintaggart Farm  Perthshire.  Shop their homemade foodie range, pick up some vouchers for their popular Cook School or treat someone to a stay.

In next week’s gift guide find out which independent brands we will be buying from ‘For Him’.
