“Laura Thomas Co has evolved from my deep passion for living as naturally and minimally as possible while not compromising on quality. Buy only what you use and buy well”.

Inspired by the benefits of living free from synthetic chemicals Laura Thomas Co started with a lavender candle to naturally enhance sleep. The business has since evolved into an online platform, a range of plant based refillable skin, hair and face care products, supplier to Boutique Hotels in UK, Sweden and Iceland a Retail Store in North Berwick and a popular Saturday Newsletter Community.

Laura Wilson, Founder + Creative Director.
Living and experiencing life in New Zealand for nearly 10 years inspired the start of Laura Thomas Co.
At the time, life there was light years ahead of the UK in terms of people’s actions with recycling and sustainability, using natural products in the home and on the skin, eating locally grown produce and supporting homegrown brands.
My time there opened my eyes to a desire to live close with nature and as minimally as possible.
So I set out in 2014 to create a purpose led business that would make a positive impact.
Smell and memory are closely linked and we understand the importance of this. When I was a child my friends mum always had White Lily’s in the hallway as soon as you came into the house. They gave an air of sophistication and cultured living. It was then I realised the importance of scent and what it can represent.
We pride ourselves in scenting our scents and soaps with natural scents derived directly from nature. Extracting scented oils via a process of distillation or compression from the plant, flower, bark, tree or peel, gives a pure scent far superior to synthetically made smells.
Right from the start we wanted to turn the tide on the use of plastic and all Laura Thomas Co products are supplied in glass jars and bottles.
By providing a viable, sustainable packaging alternative my mission was reduce plastic used in everyday goods.
In 2017 we launched our product refills. Every liquid product we produce is refillable and in 2024 we launched our 50ml Travel pouches.
We manufacture all products at our HQ just outside North Berwick, Scotland.
Every product has a carbon footprint. Ours are no different and we are always looking at ways to reduce our impact on the planet.
We source our ingredients from UK companies. Some of the ingredients we use, we are aware need to originate closer to Scotland to reduce our carbon footprint further and we are working on this.
Our textiles are sourced from Europe and we work directly with our suppliers (no intermediary companies nor middlemen) and make sure that a living wage is paid, no discrimination is practised and environmental impacts are minimised.
It was my intention from beginning that all our packaging, bottles and jars have been plastic free and 100% recyclable.
30% of our product packaging is from paper made using old coffee cups. In 1 of our boxes, 5 coffee cups have avoided landfill and been reused.
The other 70% of our product packaging is from FSC certified forests to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards.
The paper from our product packaging is made in a mill in England and shipped to our printers close by the factory for printing using a non toxic eco solvent ink which is 100% biodegradable.
We use recycled cardboard boxes for shipping and ‘Eco Flo Chips’ chips made from corn starch for protection during shipping, which can be wasted away with water, put in the compost or put in your kerbside garden waste bins.
At Laura Thomas Co we understand that sustainability is the key for the future of the hospitality and travel industry.
In 2020 we entered the Hotel Toiletries market with an aim to provide personal care that was natural, aesthetically pleasing and 100% refillable. In an industry where consumers were crying out for the removal of single use plastic in all bathrooms we have partnered with some very inspiring hotel groups and accommodation brands.
Partners include; Gleneagles Hotel (part of the Ennismore Group), Wildland Hotel Group, Marine + Lawn Group, W Hotel Edinburgh, Market Street Hotel Edinburgh and boutique accommodation throughout the UK, Sweden and Iceland.
In March 2022 we officially opened our store after a Pop-up for the festive season in 2021.
We love our store and so do our local clients.
Hosting events, parties and talking all things scent and sustainability is what we love to do in store.

Simple is our style.
Chemical free is our philosophy.
I’m only getting started on my journey and my core values remain the same as they did when I started out: to create a purpose led business that would make a positive impact on peoples lives and on our planet.
