Scottish Escapes

Scottish Escapes

Are you thinking about Scottish Escapes? Many of us are looking forward to getting away this month, whether it is a romantic Valentines weekend  or a half-term break with the kids. It’s a prefect time of year for it – a welcome escape during the chilly, wet month of February. Those of us living in Scotland don’t have to venture too far to find a bit of luxury and relaxation.

Williamstone Steading, North Berwick, East Lothian.

Here in East Lothian we are lucky to have so many fantastic places to choose from.  Williamstone Farm Steading in North Berwick is a place we recommend to our friends. It’s also where we hold some of our LT photoshoots because we love their comfortable, contemporary style.  The Barn was an old grain & cart store which has been beautifully converted to offer an amazing place for a family get-away.

Original architectural features in the B-listed building have been retained. High vaulted ceilings and exposed brickwork show off the history of the building, which contrast with the modern design and luxurious spaces created within.  It’s clear that Williamstone Farm Steading are just as passionate about gorgeous textiles as we are at LT.  We love the shaggy sheepskins, crisp linen and geometric cushions. Natural wooden floorboards look amazing with the monochrome rugs!

Bonnie Badger, Gullane, East Lothian.

Gullane is the home of the famous Muirfield Golf Club and attracts golfers from around the world to visit. Just a short walk from the golf courses and beautiful sandy beaches, you will find the Bonnie Badger. This is Tom & Michaela Kitchin’s superb new pub, restaurant & rooms. We were thrilled to supply The Bonnie Badger with their luxe bed linen and you can be sure of an amazing nights sleep if you stay here.

Gullane is a perfect place to spend a romantic weekend (especially if you are both keen golfers!). The Stables Restaurant is an atmospheric and welcoming place to dine. After a long walk on the beach (or golf course!) you can spend a relaxed, romantic evening here. Choose a table beside the open fire for ultimate cosiness. Start by ordering their famous oysters with shallot vinegar, then linger over treacle tart, before enjoying a wee dram of Glenfiddich ‘Fire & Cane’ and retiring to one of their luxurious bedrooms. The Bonnie Badger is an LT favourite!

Ballintaggart Farm Hotel, Glentully, Perthshire.

Ballintaggart Farm Hotel is another LT recommendation for a get-away weekend. Situated in the beautiful Perthshire countryside, overlooking the Tay Valley, this is the place to come for a rural retreat. Relax by the fire and enjoy the wonderful view across the snow in winter or the wildflower meadows in summer. Cosy up in the sitting room during the day or dine by candlelight the evening. Remember, this is a place for couples, so leave the kids behind! LT were proud to supply the linen for Ballintaggart. They are all about simple luxury, just like we are at LT.
